Design ISMAT Course Director
Susana Leonor, holds a PhD in DESIGN at Aveiro University in 2016 and has developed her path around creativity and technologies. Since 2018, she has been Professor at Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes – ISMAT – Lusófona Group, and it’s also Director at Communication Design Degree and Creative Technologies Degree. Teaching since 2006 at Lusófona University in Lisboa and in the last years at IADE-EU, as been always connected to the different study cycles in the areas of creativity, design, technologies and innovation. Her research path has been linked to creative, participatory processes, co-design and design of systems/processes, therefore also a great affinity for research in applied active pedagogical practices and lifelong learning, and it’s something that applies on the courses that she manages.

Carla Paoliello is an Invited Assistant Professor at the Fine Arts Faculty of Lisbon University and Ismat, Portimão. She is interested in discussing collaboration and co-design, craft and traditional practices, eco-consciousness and care, identities and territories. Currently, she has been investigating knowledge exchange and experimenting with living systems and biomaterials.

Lecturer and Researcher at ISMAT in Portimão. His areas of interest and participation in European Projects range from Participatory Design & Nature-Based Solutions; Circular Economy & Biodesign; Design & Innovation. He is an expert at the Taskforce 6 – co-creation of Nature-Based Solutions of the European Commission and Director of Nature-Based Solutions HUB Portugal appointed by the EU NetworkNature. He believes in “Science for the Market” with more than 60 applied research projects implemented and his work as a senior innovation facilitator is recognized by his peers. He is also a national and international guest speaker on Design, Creativity, Innovation, Circularity and Nature-Based Solutions. His already research member for four European Projects consortiums and published more fifty scientific articles in conferences and indexed journals.

Full Professor and Researcher at the School of Communication, Architecture, Art and Information Technologies of the Lusófona University since 202. Researcher at Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies (CICANT). PhD in Textile Engineering – Design Management, at the University of Minho in December 2009. Master’s degree in art theory at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and a degree in Visual and Technological Education, Primary School Teachers, at the School of Education of the Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute, in 1999. Undertook international training in Art Direction for Fashion at Central Saint Martin’s – University of the Arts London. Lecturer in the areas of Design, Fashion Design and Photography since 1999. Currently, director of the BA and MA in Fashion Design and Production at U, Lusófona – Lisbon and Porto. Has coordinated several initiatives around Fashion, namely the organization of Fashion Shows, both at the academic level and at the professional level with several national designers in the main fashion weeks. Her line of research is directed towards Fashion Design – Production, Fashion Photography and Editorial, Contemporary Fashion Design, Cultural heritage and sustainability in fashion.
