PhD Derya Irkdas IZMIR U. BIOMATERIALKIT

Derya Irkdaş Doğu is an accomplished Industrial Design lecturer and designer with a strong emphasis on biodesign. She holds a PhD and MA in Industrial Design and a BA in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. With a passion for sustainable and innovative design practices, she specializes in biomaterials and their applications in design. As an educator, she guides and inspires students in exploring the intersection of design and biology, fostering a deep understanding of designing with living systems principles and methodologies. She actively integrates biodesign concepts into her work, with a focus on biomaterial exploration, sustainable product development, and the utilization of natural materials. She is also a founding member of the Living Lab Izmir initiative, which is committed to cultivating a new design discourse in dialogue with non-human systems and fostering ecologically informed design practices.
