Short Bio

PhD Fernando Secomandi TU Delft / DRS

Fernando’s research explores the intersection of design and the philosophy of technology. His publications have appeared in Design Issues, Design Studies, among other academic journals. He is also an associate editor for the Journal of Human-Technology Relations. Holds a bachelor degree in industrial design (Uerj, Brazil), a MSc degree in Strategic Product Design (TUDelft, The Netherlands), and a PhD in Service Design (TUDelft, The Netherlands). Since 2008 my academic research focuses on the intersection of design (service design) and philosophy of technology (postphenomenology). From 2015 to 2021, Former hold a tenured position at the Higher School of Industrial Design (Uerj, Brazil), and assumed the roles of vice coordinator of the graduate program and of coordinator of research. I also collaborated part-time with MJV in consulting for global corporations on design-driven digital innovation. Currently His assistant professor at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (TUDelft, The Netherlands), Associate Editor of the Journal of Human-Technology Relations (TU Delft Open Publishing), and Co-Lead of Healthy Start Ambition “First 1000 Days” (Convergence). From July 2021 to July 2023, was Deputy Editor of the journal Design Studies, published by Elsevier.
