Full Professor at Lisbon University, Lisbon School of Architecture (FA ULisbon)

Rita Assoreira Almendra is currently Full Professor at Lisbon University, Lisbon School of Architecture (FA ULisbon). She has a PhD in Design from FAUL (2010), a master in Design Management from Universidade Católica Portuguesa (2004), and an MBA with marketing specialization from the same school (2002). She is the Head of the Project Design Department and was the Vice-president of the Scientific Council until 2021; Nowadays coordinates both the Design Doctoral program and the nucleus of Design and a Researcher at CIAUD – FA ULisbon. She published 20 articles in journals; 30 book chapters, and co authored 2 book(s); She is the editor of 4 book and has more than 75 papers in conference’s proceedings; She supervised 20 PhD theses and has 20 more ongoing (with other supervisors) as well as more than 70 MSc dissertations. She has been a member of more than 100 Master juries and of 45 PhD Juries; She organized several conferences and was a member of various Scientific committees of journals and conferences; She is the coordinator of the FCT’s doctoral studentship in the Design, architecture and urbanism areas and was a member 3 previous years; She was a member of more than 28 juries from 9 different schools to select candidates to the teaching positions. She was granted with an FCT doctoral scholarship and has 4 awards and/or honors. Her scientific and research interest areas are: Design Education; Design Research, Social Design; Design Processes; Sustainable Design; Design Management; Participatory Design and Service Design.
