ISMAT – Scientific Director
Rui Loureiro holds a PhD in History from the Universidade de Lisboa (1995). He is currently a professor at ISMAT – Instituto Superior Manuel Teixeira Gomes, in Portimão, and a researcher at CHAM – Centro de Humanidades, a research center at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. And he is also a senior member of the Academia de Marinha, the Portuguese Navy academic institution. He is the author of a wide range of national and international publications on the history of the intercultural relations between Portugal and the extra-European world in the early modern period.
