PhD Jorge Lopes PUC-Rio BiodesignLAB Director
Dr. Jorge Lopes holds a PhD in Product Design from the Royal College of Art, UK, an MSc in Production Engineering from COPPE/UFRJ, and a Bachelor’s in Industrial Design from UFRJ, Brazil. He’s Senior Technologist at the National Institute of Technology, Brazilian Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Technology. As a Professor in the Arts and Design Department at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, collaborates on research groups at the School of Medicine and the Brazilian National Museum. He’s also served as a Visiting Professor at Deakin University, Australia. Notable projects include “Who am I” a permanent exhibition at the Science Museum in London. In 2019 he delivered a TEDx talk about his work digitizing the iconic statue of the Christ, in Rio de Janeiro..
