PhD Gonçalo Canto Moniz – U. COIMBRA | CES | URBiNAT coordinator

Gonçalo Canto Moniz is a researcher at the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra, where he is co-coordinator of the thematic line Urban Cultures, Sociability and Participation. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, where he graduated in 1995 and received his PhD in 2011. He coordinates the European project URBiNAT “Healthy corridor as drivers of social housing neighborhoods for the co-creation of social, environmental and marketable NBS”, funded by H2020 (2018-2024) and co-coordinates the European project “TRANS-Lighthouses: Beyond green – Lighthouses of transformative nature-based solutions for inclusive communities”, funded by Horizon Europe (2023- 2026) He has researched and published on Urban Regeneration and Modern Architecture, namely on school equipment and the teaching of architecture, being the author of the book “O Ensino Moderno da Arquitectura. A Formação do Arquitecto nas Escolas de Belas Artes em Portugal (1931- 69)” (FIMS, Afrontamento, 2019). He is a member of ISC Education and Training at DOCOMOMO International.
